Mateja Urlep is a leading biosimilars expert who established TikhePharma in 2009. As a veteran of the pharmaceutical industry, her expertise spans business growth strategy, marketing and sales, as well as biologics development and manufacturing.
With this, TikhePharma holds an ideal position to advise clients who work in the field of biologics and biosimilars, or who need to respond to this emerging field.
A pharmacist by training, Mrs. Urlep has 35 years of global experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to founding TikhePharma, she was the Global Head of Marketing & Sales at Sandoz Biopharmaceuticals. In this role, she oversaw the global launches of all three Sandoz biosimilars — Omnitrope (hGH), Binocrit (EPO) and Zarzio (G-CSF). She also successfully built and later managed the first cell-culture biotech manufacturing plant in the CEE region.
Her leadership was crucial in managing acceptance throughout research and development, regulatory strategy with the EMA (European Medicines Agency), as well as medical positioning strategy when launching to the most demanding markets in the EU and US. In the course of her career she was engaged in the political debate at the FTC workshop on biosimilars in Washington DC, enhancing legal changes that promoted biosimilars legislation.
As a senior professional who transitioned out of corporate life, Mrs. Urlep offers a highly effective blend of proven hands-on experience and consulting discipline.
